Research
Building research capacity, data infrastructure and multicentre collaboration in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Research
Building an evidence base for plastic surgery as it is actually practised in Bahrain.
The Association supports research that answers questions arising from practice in the Kingdom: what the local burden of burns and trauma looks like, how reconstructive outcomes compare with published series, and where practice varies without good reason.
Support takes practical forms: help with protocol and ethics submissions, access to members for multi-centre work, statistical advice, and a platform at the annual conference for presenting results. Trainees are actively encouraged to take on projects.
What the Association offers
- Advice on protocol design and ethics applications
- Introductions for multi-centre collaboration
- Statistical and methodological support
- A platform to present at the annual conference
Priority areas
Burns and trauma
The local burden, the pathways of care, and how outcomes can be improved.
Outcomes
Audit of reconstructive and aesthetic results against published standards.
Service design
How plastic surgery services are organised, and what that costs patients.
Have a project in mind?
The research committee is glad to hear from members and trainees at the idea stage, before a protocol is written.
